John Collins, thank you so much for such an informed, articulate and detailed article. I cannot understand the silence from our elected Municipal, Provincial and Federal representatives. What do they think their responsibility is in regards to this community and its citizens? Would it be possible to hold a town hall session and have our representatives attend to hear this detailed information that you have put forward. For sure they must not be informed or they would be doing something about it for their citizens. Thank you again.

Very well written, this is a huge subject, as the livelihood of thousands hang in the balance, whichever direction it goes.
I have to feel for all the folks in the logging industry, suppliers, local businesses, all the folks that will be put in financial stress when the mill closes, and close it must.
The time has long passed when this unbelievable polluter be shut down, every time I drive through the plume, I get choked up, and I mean literally, as a kid, spending summers directly across the harbour from Pictou Landing, I can very clearly remember the water, it was like Coke, only stank.
Our waters can no longer be subjected to this effluent, I'm certain that there will be major damage caused by this pipeline, it can't be allowed.

Excellent letter! Finally someone is pointing out the hot temperature of the effluent, the 100 meter distance from the 6 diffusers for "normality", and the solids that will be dispersed - three key issues we have been concerned with all along since the NP consultations last Fall, and our questions to Dillon Consulting.
