(K’jipuktuk / Halifax) Martin Lukacs is a regular contributor to The Guardian and a co-author of The Leap Manifesto, one of the inspirations for the Green New Deal.
His recent book The Trudeau Formula: Seduction and betrayal in an age of discontent is an important and timely account of the past four years under the Trudeau Liberals and has been endorsed by David Suzuki and Naomi Klein.
Each chapter gives a context for how political decisions with respect to environment, climate change, trade, finance, First Nations, reconciliation, electoral reform, weapons etc. were (and will be) made. It examines the nature of Canada’s leadership and its political parties and provides a context as to why critical social, environmental, economic and cultural matters continue to be ignored. His writing is fast paced, attention grabbing, comprehensive and funny.
A lively presenter, Lukacs will frame the discussion around what engaged citizens can be doing now in preparation for what comes next.
