DESCRIPTION:Kick off Natal Day Weekend with the 5th annual Art of Disability Festival on Thursday\, July 28th from 10am to 2pm at Alderney Landing! Come out for a day of fun and learning while supporting artists who have a disability in your community. There will be an artist market and performances throughout the day such as dancers\, poets and musicians. DESCRIPTION:Co-presented by Common Roots Urban Farm\, the Ecology Action Centre’s Food Action Committee\, and the Halifax Shambhala Centre’s Gardening Goodness Project\, this event will feature a panel discussion and Q&A session with biochemist Jason Hofman\, organics specialist Av Singh\, and permaculture specialist & activist Jenn Stotland\, moderated by food garden advocate David Wimberly. \nAbout Symphony of the Soil \nDrawing from ancient knowledge and cutting edge science\, Symphony of the Soil is an artistic exploration of the miraculous substance soil. By understanding the elaborate relationships and mutuality between soil\, water\, the atmosphere\, plants and animals\, we come to appreciate the complex and dynamic nature of this precious resource. The film also examines our human relationship with soil\, the use and misuse of soil in agriculture\, deforestation and development\, and the latest scientific research on soil’s key role in ameliorating the most challenging environmental issues of our time. Filmed on four continents\, featuring esteemed scientists and working farmers and ranchers\, Symphony of the Soil is an intriguing presentation that highlights possibilities of healthy soil creating healthy plants creating healthy humans living on a healthy planet.

Comics offer a unique capacity to engage\, inform and entertain. \nAd Astra Comix is a Canadian publisher of comics social justice themes. In 2016\, the company is traveling across North America to foster a community of political comics artists\, writers and readers.
