DESCRIPTION:Please join MIkmaq along the Sipeknekatik river\, within the Sipeknekatik district\, as we host our fellow communities\, allies and concerned Nova Scotian in a historic opening of a Truckhouse along the Shubenacadie River. \nThe Shubenacadie Treaty of 1752: \n4. It is agreed\, that the said Tribe of Indians shall not be hindered from\, but have\nfree liberty of Hunting and Fishing as usual and that if they shall think a Truckhouse\nneedful at the River Chibenaccadie\, or any other place of their resort\, they shall\nhave the same built and proper Merchandise lodged therein\, to be exchanged\nfor what the Indians shall haveto dispose of\, and that in the meantime the said\nIndians shall have free liberty to bring for Sale to Halifax\, or any other Settlement\nwithin this Province\, Skins\, Feathers\, Fowl\, Fish\, or any other thing they shall\nhave to sell\, where they shall have liberty to dispose thereof to the best advantage. \nPlease join us for other activities; \nWe will also be dropping Eel traps\, \nWeir building demonstrations by Darren Porter. \nCultural songs and feast. \nPlease come out and join us in this historic celebration. \nTake Stewiacke exit 11 and watch for event signs.
