SUMMARY:Rally calls for reparations and compensation for slavery
DESCRIPTION:KJIPUKTUK (Halifax) – The subject of reparations for the enslavement of the African is a topic most governments the world over\, and including Canada\, do not want to touch. Even those said to be open minded and concerned with the well being of mankind seem to run from the subject of reparations and compensation for the descendants of African people forced into slavery.  \n\n\n\nWhereas all North American governments and others profited of the enslavement of the African\, reparations to the descendants of those forced into slavery should be a no brainer.  \n\n\n\nThe rape of Africa\, the theft and enslavement of the African\, the worst crime against humanity\, has never been given due process under international law because of racism in law and within governments and their lack of respect and what they seem to truly believe about race and equality and the value of human suffering.  \n\n\n\nGovernments and major companies in Canada made an estimated 50 trillion dollars from slavery in Canada\, and with the so called end of slavery reparations were paid to slave owners\, but not to those forced into slavery nor their descendants. \n\n\n\nBlack Lives Matter\, and based on the above a rally will be held on July 17\, 2021\, at 1PM at the Peace and Friendship Park\, across from the Westin Hotel in downtown Halifax. \n\n\n\nYour attendance is crucial and respectfully encouraged!

SUMMARY:Media release: The candidates speak. Where do they stand on open-net fish farms?
DESCRIPTION:All four Chester-St. Margaret’s MLA candidates invited  \n\n\n\nWednesday\, July 21st 2PM  \n\n\n\nBlandford Community Centre  \n\n\n\nBlandford\, NS  \n\n\n\nTo meet a regulatory requirement to consult the community\, many years after they already quadrupled  the size of their Bayswater fish farm lease\, on July 21 from 1-8pm at the Blandford Community Centre  Cooke Aquaculture is holding an “open house.” They will be selling residents retroactively on a lease  expansion they already accomplished and have been profiting from for years. Citing Covid rules which  do not exist\, they are restricting the number of visitors to the so- called “open house” to 15 people in 45  minute increments. They are redefining the term “open house.”   \n\n\n\nIn response\, the all-volunteer Twin Bays Coalition (St. Margaret’s and Mahone Bays) and the  provincewide Healthy Bays Network are inviting the public and the media to join us for a truly “open” discussion outside the Centre at 2pm. Speakers will be the four declared candidates currently running to  represent the provincial riding of Chester-St. Margaret’s in the next provincial legislature. They will  declare and defend their positions regarding open-net pens in Nova Scotia’s coastal waters.   \n\n\n\nThe candidates are:  \n\n\n\n• Jessica Alexander\, Greens (confirmed)  \n\n\n\n• Danielle Barkhouse\, Progressive Conservatives (confirmed)  \n\n\n\n• Jacob Killawee\, Liberals  \n\n\n\n• Amy Reitsma\, New Democrats (confirmed)

He is a lecturer at the University of Toronto Department of Family and Community Medicine\, and holds a Masters in Public Administration from the Harvard Kennedy School of Government. \n\n\n\nDr. Brandon Doucet is a dentist practicing in Nova Scotia\, with interests in surgery and public health and is a founding member of the Coalition for Dentalcare.

SUMMARY:Canada on Fire Climate Day of Action
DESCRIPTION:Facebook event page: https://www.facebook.com/events/243397774286650 \n\n\n\nKody Blois Constituency Office 101-24 Harbourside Dr\, Wolfville\, Nova Scotia\, B4P 2C1\, Canada \n\n\n\nWe’ll gather outside MP Kody Blois’ constituency office at 11:30 am to demand government action on the climate emergency that has never been more clear. We will be joining others across Canada in demanding a moratorium on all new and in-progress fossil fuel related projects\, as well as Just Transition legislation that will transform the Canadian economy to address systemic inequities while creating the infrastructure needed to mitigate and adapt to climate change. This is also called a Green New Deal\, which is being pushed for around the world! We can’t wait. Please bring a mask for covid-safety and be ready to social distance. Please also bring props to help make our message clear such as fire extinguishers\, N-95 masks\, posters\, songs and any other on-message creative contributions. This is a large climate-caring community and the only action in Nova Scotia so far\, so let’s aim for big numbers. Can we fill the whole back parking lot? Please share online and in person widely!
