Nasty Woman fundraiser for Avalon Sexual Assault Centre

KJIPUKTUK (Halifax) – Two beautiful hand-printed posters originally made for January’s Halifax Women’s March are now for sale, with 75% of all sales to be donated to the Avalon Sexual Assault Centre in Halifax, NS.

The prints are made at Deep Hollow Print, a small Kentville letterpress printshop.

The letterpress posters are printed on a 1930s-era Vandercook press using antique wood type and an original linocut carving by Laura MacDonald, owner/operator of Deep Hollow Print.

Posters are inked by hand, so each one is unique and colours will vary.

A message from the Avalon Sexual Assault Centre on the Deep Hollow Print Facebook page explains that the donation will support Avalon’s ongoing direct service and social justice work to address systemic sexualized violence, and barriers to access to justice for victims/survivors of sexualized violence/abuse.

You can order the print on the printshop’s Etsy page, or pick one up ($20 each) in WOLFVILLE at the The Rolled Oat Cafe or in HALIFAX at the Avalon Sexual Assault Centre. (Cash only at both places).

Note: Avalon’s hours: Mon-Fri 8:30-12:30 and 1:30-4:30. Rolled Oat hours: Mon-Fri 9am-3pm, Sat 10am-3pm.
