Justice For Fliss Cramman
September 29, 2016 @ 6:00 pm - 7:00 pm
NOTE: The location will be in the parking lot outside the courthouse facing the Dartmouth General to ensure we do not impede anyone using the hospital or disrupt patients and their families.
“URGENT! URGENT! Please read and respond
Fliss Cramman is desperately ill and shackled to her bed in Dartmouth General hospital. She was imprisoned for offering to sell drugs. After she served her time it was discovered she is not a Canadian citizen – she was taken into care at age 11 after coming to Canada at age 8 and suffering sexual assault in her family. She believed that she had citizenship.
Now they are trying to deport her despite her being a one time, non violent offender who had been victimized her whole life, failed by the system, and serving her time.
While they are conducting hearings she is currently chained to her bed in hospital. This should be an outage in Canada. We need to call on our government to intervene in this case and end the torture of this woman.
I want to call a rally outside Dartmouth General to draw attention to her conditions and to call on the government to cease deportation proceedings and intervene in her shackling. This is URGENT as every day she is in shackles is too long.
If we call a rally for Thursday at 6PM outside Dartmouth General would people be able to attend? We need numbers to make this an issue media and government are forced to pay attention to.
Anyone who cares about human rights should object to the shackling of a sick woman who is no risk and has served her time. If we call a rally will people stand in solidarity? This is an urgent justice issue.”
