This event date is the 35th anniversary of the Chernobyl disaster. The Bay of Fundy is one of the 7 Natural Wonders of North America, one of the richest marine ecosystems on the planet and feeding ground for millions of migratory birds. The governments of Canada and New Brunswick have funded two start-up companies to develop experimental nuclear projects beside the Bay of Fundy on the site of the Point Lepreau CANDU nuclear reactor.Canadian regulatory agencies have no experience with these technologies and experts have raised many safety concerns. After nuclear industry lobbying, the Canadian government exempted these projects from a federal environmental impact assessment.

Point Lepreau is located on the shared traditional and unceded territories of the Peskotomuhkati and Wolastoq Nations. The panel features Indigenous leaders and academic and medical experts as presenters followed by Q&A with registrants.
