Poverty IS a Municipal Election issue!

September 23, 2016 @ 11:00 am - 12:00 pm

We often hear that ‘social’ issues like poverty are a ‘provincial’ issue and outside the jurisdiction of the city government. The truth is, many municipal issues are related to/affected by poverty.

What issues? School Boards,Gentrification. Rooming House Standards. Food Security, Transit Service. Parks and Recreation. Public Libraries. Water Rates. And much more.

Come and hear a panel of low-income individuals talk about thenissues important to them. As well as some things that happen when HRM Council, often acting in good faith, does things negatively affecting folks living in poverty.

This Press Conference is being organized by the Community Advocates Network, a group that unites people living on low-income and their allies in the fight to end poverty.

Friday September 23 rd at 11 am

JBO Centre, 2103 Gottingen Street, Halifax

There will be opportunities to speak with panelists individually.
