RALLY Against the Housing Crisis!

The housing crisis is spiralling out of control. We’re seeing an exponential increase in people forced onto the street. Meanwhile, average residents of HRM who remain housed find their rent soaring to unsustainable levels. This cannot continue.

Meanwhile, politicians refuse to help in a meaningful way. Not only do some politicians pass the buck on positive action, they also use their power to attack the band-aid solutions to the crisis that groups like Halifax Mutual Aid (HMA) offer.

HRM has been maneuvering to destroy volunteer-built crisis shelters, which continue to be a lifeline for people experiencing houselessness. As HMA’s waitlist for shelters grows (along with people forced onto the street), HRM attacks the homeless instead of the housing crisis.

We ask you to lend your voice to the chorus of caring and concerned residents of HRM to tell the city government this:

“Stay out of the way if you can’t lend a hand.”
