Wolfville and Area Residents to Rally as Part of Cross-Canada Mobilization to Demand Politicians Take Climate Emergency Action
What: In response to the wildfires, extreme heat, and other urgent climate impacts across Canada and around the globe this summer, Wolfville and area residents will rally at Willow Park to demand the federal government place a moratorium on new fossil fuel expansion and enact a sweeping transition.
This action is one of more than 60 events happening across Canada on September 8th ahead of the Federal Leaders’ Debates to draw attention to the urgency of the climate crisis.
When: Wednesday September 8/2021, 6:30PM.
Where: Willow Park, 11 Willow Avenue, Wolfville, Nova Scotia.
Photo/Video Opportunity: Participants will first gather in the park to listen to speakers, share ideas, and enjoy music. At 7:15PM, they will take their signs for a walk downtown, encouraging others to join. Participants will spread through town with candle lanterns to symbolize both the fires and the hope they have that working together they can enact change.
This event will follow COVID-19 protocol with mask-wearing and social-distancing.
