Labour Day is a public holiday, and a retail store closing day in Nova Scotia. Whether you are working that day or get the day off, you have rights, but, as Judy Haiven explains. the rules are a bit tricky.

In Nova Scotia, Labour Day is one of the six paid holidays in the year. If your workplace is closed that day, or you do not work that day, you are entitled to a day off with pay. But there is more. Judy Haiven explains.

Danny Cavanagh: Now is time for a government that’s committed to creating good jobs. A government willing to invest in more public services, services that working families need. A government that will help more people save for retirement so they can live their final years in dignity, not a hardship. Government that understand austerity is a race to the bottom driven by the rich and elite in society.
