KJIPUKTUK (Halifax) – This weekend we feature amazing singer, song writer, musician and producer Reeny Smith, originally from North Preston, only 25 years old, and incredibly talented.
I had a hard time picking a video, there are so many to chose from, even just on Reeny’s website, but I landed on When are you lonely, a beautiful song, recorded for CBC’s The East Coast Music Hour.
My hidden agenda here is to plug the upcoming Scotian Songwriters Circle on Thursday, where you will be able to see Reeny Smith perform live at the public library on Gottingen Street. Smith will be joined by fellow African Nova Scotian songwriters Deves Matwawana, Keonté Beals, and Zamani Bernard-Millar.
That’s on Thursday, February 22, at 7 PM, it will be lovely, and it’s free!
If you can, please support the Nova Scotia Advocate so that it can continue to cover issues such as poverty, racism, exclusion, workers’ rights and the environment in Nova Scotia. A pay wall is not an option, since it would exclude many readers who don’t have any disposable income at all. We rely entirely on one-time donations and a small group of super nice monthly sustainers.
