News release: Announcements regarding post-secondary education made by the Ontario Progressive Conservative government earlier this week will negatively affect students studying in Nova Scotia and threatens students’ right to organize.
John Collins on Premier Stephen MacNeil’s response to a letter from the three Pictou MLAs: “I actually commend you for the courage and determination to stand up for what’s right and sticking to the legislated closure as implemented by your government in the ‘Boat Harbour Act’. For the mill to even promote a continuance of this level of environmental racism by asking for an extension is an insult to Pictou Landing First Nations, and First Nations Peoples in general.”
PSA: “At this time it appears both federal and provincial governments are knowingly protecting Alton Gas instead of protecting fish habitat and Treaty Rights. This needs to stop now. The laws are in place, it is now your duty as the government to suspend all permits and charge the company.”

PSA: On Thursday January 24 the Sudanese community in Nova Scotia is organizing a demonstration supporting peaceful protests in Sudan. As some of you might know, for over a month Sudanese people has taken to the streets in Sudan peacefully protesting and requesting the end of the vicious dictatorial regime that has been in power for 30 years.

Insufficient funding and increased complexity are putting pressures on the system that cannot be sustained, they warn. Parents and children will suffer as a result, and they are calling on Nova Scotians to help put a stop to that.
