Nova Scotia Parents for Public Education with a membership of almost 17,300 parents, grandparents and care givers of students in the Province, would like to express our support for the decision to close Nova Scotia Public Schools during this difficult and unprecedented time in the province in dealing with the Covid-19 pandemic.
In this terrifying time we are deeply worried about folks inside. WWW and all volunteer orgs have had our access to provincial facilities suspended completely and indefinitely. The prisoners may only have non-contact visits and 2 free phone calls per week. No action has yet been taken to reduce the burden through temporary releases, etc.

The current complaint system at the Nova Scotia Human Rights Commission doesn’t seem to be working. Those who have been traumatized by racism, sexism and hate seem to be re-victimized.
Open Letter: Women’s Wellness Within is calling on the Nova Scotia Department of Community Services to follow British Columbia and Manitoba in ending the discriminatory and racist practice of issuing birth alerts for “at risk” mothers and their babies.

PSA: As part of a nation-wide Day of Mourning in Canada and the United States, disability rights advocates in the Halifax area will be holding a vigil on Sunday, March 1, 2020 to honor the lives of disabled people murdered by their families and caretakers.
PSA: On the heels of a similar event in Mahone Bay that drew 300 people, the Twin Bays Coalition is holding a rally in opposition to the provincial government’s plan to impose industrial scale open net pen fish farming in our waters.
