I am weary of Mr. Colwell citing science when he has not produced one shred of scientific evidence to communities that have asked him to justify his support for this industry. And I am very weary of Mr. Colwell pretending that there has been any real substantive changes to the Aquaculture Regulations stating that they are new and transparent.
Letter by Wendy Watson Smith, president of the Association for the Preservation of the Eastern Shore: “We have just learned that Fisheries and Aquaculture Minister Keith Colwell will lead a delegation of 18 Industry representatives and government officials on a taxpayer funded junket to Tasmania to investigate Marine Protected Areas in that part of Australia, and the feasibility of co-existence between finfish farms and a lobster fishery.”
Premier McNeil seems to think that Oil and Gas development is a perfect fit with a Marine Protected Area. Just as he probably thinks that it is appropriate to clearcut a game sanctuary. (Liscombe).
