The Halifax-Dartmouth and District Labour Council, representing almost all local unions in Halifax, is endorsing municipal candidates running in several districts of HRM. However, it is not endorsing any of the mayoral candidates.
Not quite a Labour Day march, but a rally earlier today in support of 10 paid sick days in Nova Scotia drew close to 100 people to downtown Halifax.

A new report calculates living wages for Halifax, Bridgewater, Antigonish, CBRM and Saint John, NB. To live a dignified life you need a living wage, enough money to live in a safe and decent home, eat healthy food, buy clothes when you need them, and pay for childcare and transportation.

News brief: In an oral decision delivered earlier today at the Nova Scotia Supreme Court, Canada Post was granted a province-wide injunction against picketing activities.
In an uplifting display of solidarity some 50 people, trade union activists, members of the faith community, and others, gathered in front of Founders Square in downtown Halifax at noon today to offer support to the seven Black cleaners who were recently unjustly fired, as if their lives don’t count.
Perhaps today’s rally at Tim Hortons in downtown Halifax, the second such rally this week, is a sign that a made-in-Nova Scotia $15 and Fairness campaign is finally gaining momentum. That’s certainly the intention of the organizers of today’s rally.
