KJIPUKTUK (Halifax) – Lots of good things come out of Antigonish. The documentary Listening to our neighbours is one of them.
Filmed entirely in Antigonish it explores how local people deal with the consequences of a changing climate.
Biologists, fishers, farmers, people living close to the ocean dealing with erosion and rising sea levels, even insurance agents, talk about the challenges and what they are doing about it.
The documentary is directed by local filmmaker Corinne Dunphy, and produced by Antigonish Climate Resilience, a group of people who want to raise public awareness and action on climate change.
It’s really well done! Things move along at a fast pace, you’ll see some stunning landscapes, and meet all kinds of interesting people.
You’ll learn about climate change, obviously, but also about the power of documentaries as a way to get a message out in a very direct way and at very local level.
