MEDIA ADVISORY   

What: Continued Action at Founders Square.  Baristas to join picket line at Noon. National Secretary Treasurer of Canadian Labour Congress to Speak at Rally at 4:30 pm.

Where: Founders Square, 1701 Hollis Street, Halifax, Nova Scotia.

When: Tuesday March 27, 12-1 p.m. & 4-5 p.m.

As the cleaners of African descent at Founders Square make national news with their human rights complaints and the local community rallies to their support.  Today at noon, the picket in front of Founders Square will be joined by Baristas from the Smiling Goat who are hosting pickets of their own and gearing up towards a rally later this week.  From unpaid wages, to human rights complaints, workers in this city are uniting against bad employers!

At 4:30 p.m. Marie Clarke Walker, Secretary Treasurer of The Canadian Labour Congress, will speak at a rally at Founders Square.  Marie will bring solidarity from organized workers across this country and put these companies on notice that at a national level the labour movement is paying close attention and taking this situation very seriously.  Additionally we will hear from more community allies who have recently joined the Black Workers Matter Community Coalition.
