Weekend video: Fatima Beydoun and Hannah Martin speak truth to power

KJIPUKTUK (Halifax) – Better than any kitten or puppy video you’ll see today, these two minutes of Halifax’s Fatima Beydoun speaking truth to power in the House of Commons are bound to cheer you up.

“I urge the government to rescind the Safe Third Country Agreement and to] grant permanent residence to all migrants and refugees already here.”

If you crave more of the same, here is a bonus. This is fearless Hannah Martin, a young Mi’kmaq woman originally from Tatamagouche, giving Trudeau a lesson on Alton Gas, treaties, and what the word unceded really means.

Both Beydoun and Martin were in Ottawa for the Daughters of the Vote event, which brings 338 young women, one from every riding in Canada, to Ottawa, to encourage them to participate in the political process and have their voices heard.
