BRAG (Benefits Reform Action Group) invites you to a free screening of the documentary “My Week on Welfare”.
“My Week on Welfare” is a documentary about the state of the welfare system in Nova Scotia. Filmmaker (and former welfare recipient) Jackie Torrens chronicles the stories of several welfare recipients.
This screening will be followed by a discussion involving first voices currently dealing with the welfare system, and also advocates who fight for a better life for those on Nova Scotia’s Employment Support and Income Assistance program.
We then turn things over to our audience, so that they may ask a question or share their stories.
This is our 9th screening in two years. These events are always eye opening and empowering.
6 PM, May 29th, Dartmouth Seniors Service Centre, 45 Ochterloney Street. Enter through the Nantucket Place entrance. Late comers welcome.
Free refreshments and free parking. Check the Facebook event here.
