Weekend video: Raymond’s story – Who am I?

KJIPUKTUK (Halifax) – A short (one minute) but powerful video about tireless activist and frequent contributor Raymond Sheppard. “Throughout my history I have been looked down upon and labeled by people of European descent. (…) As I grew and became stronger in knowledge of self I realized I am none of the above.”

Raymond always speaks truth to power in his writing for the Nova Scotia Advocate. His is an important voice and we are very pleased to offer him a forum.

The video was created as part of the Proclaiming Our Roots project that honours the histories, realities, stories and experiences of people who are of  African diasporic and Indigenous ancestry, and who reside on Turtle Island.

With a special thanks to our generous donors who make publication of the Nova Scotia Advocate possible.
