We’re very happy to present Remembering, a poem by Killa Atencio, a wonderful poet of Mi’kmaq and Quechua ancestry. It’s the first of eight poems we will publish during the remainder of the year, selected as a result of the call for poems we issued a while ago.  

Open letter to Elizabeth Smith-McCrossin written on behalf of the Jamaican Cultural Association of Nova Scotia in response to her recent statement on marijuana use in the Legislature. “Your words have wounded us deeply, by saying this I am reflecting the thoughts of the membership of the Jamaican Cultural Association of Nova Scotia (JCANS).” Smith-McCrossin has since apologized.

The Canadian Federation of Students-Nova Scotia (CFS- NS) has been informed that they are not invited to the first meeting the government’s newly reinstated provincial Sexual Violence Prevention Committee to address sexual assault on university campuses. This decision comes as continued retaliation by the Minister of Labour and Advanced Education, Labi Kousoulis, against the CFS-NS, after an op-ed was published in The Coast on March 15 that was critical of the Liberal government’s decision to vote down campus sexual violence legislation.
