Based on a response by Navy spokesperson Mark Gough, we reported on Wednesday that he was a member of the Royal Canadian Navy, and then issued a correction yesterday afternoon after Gough explained he misspoke.

Now we’re back where we started.

“I can confirm we have identified the individual in the photo.  His chain of command is aware and are investigating the matter further,” writes Gough in an email sent late this afternoon.
