The democratically-elected Indigenous (Aymara) President of Bolivia, Evo Morales, has been overthrown in a right-wing coup by the US and Canada as of November 10, 2019. The Trudeau government, through Nazi collaborator Chrystia Freeland (who serves as foreign affairs minister), has been plotting alongside the US since at least the recent Oct. 20 national elections to remove Morales and his party, Movimiento al Socialismo (MAS, Movement for Socialism), from power.
Why? The Morales government has been targeted by the Trudeau government for a number of reasons: Bolivia has the second-largest stores of lithium in Latin America; the government has eradicated illiteracy, increased the minimum wage, significantly decreased both extreme and relative poverty, and substantially grown the GDP; and, Bolivia has gained economic independence from both the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and World Bank. Furthermore, Morales has the overwhelming support of the rural campesino and Indigenous populations.
The right-wing opposition in Bolivia are anti-Indigenous and anti-campesino, and could not themselves win political power in the Oct. 20 elections. They have resorted to violence against MAS supporters as well as party leaders both during and after the election. The Canadian government, along with the US government, has stepped in to ensure their domination. Once again, it is clear just how international the scope of the settler-colonial project is, since Canada does not stop terrorizing Indigenous peoples at its own borders.
This is exactly what Canada has attempted to do in Nicaragua and Venezuela (so far unsuccessfully), and has accomplished in Brazil and Honduras. Ecuador and Chile are just two examples of what Venezuelans and Bolivians have rejected, the restoration of which each are fighting against today. These coups will not stop until imperialism and capitalism are stopped.
