DETAILS:

Acting on information received this morning that Irving forestry crews from New Brunswick are in transit to crown land in New France, Digby County, Extinction Rebellion forest protectors are currently blocking access to the cut area.

It has been reported that having finished cutting their Northern Pulp allocations in Cumberland and Colchester Counties, that Irving is preparing to begin cuts, that if not this year, will within a year or two, become clear-cuts, near New France.

This area, northeast of what was once Electric City, was visited by Information Morning’s CBC reporter, Phlis McGregor, on Monday when local, life-long resident, Richard Amero showed her tracks of the endangered Mainland Moose and described past sightings.

Federal and provincial wildlife officers also possess evidence of Mainland Moose presence in this area.

Nova Scotia Supreme Court Justice Brothers found the province negligent in honouring their legal obligations to species at risk, identifying Mainland Moose as just one of the sample species needing protection, in May 2020.

This came because of legal actions brought forward by biologist Bob Bancroft and applicants.

Therefore, Extinction Rebellion is seeking assurances from the provincial government that all approvals for harvesting on Crown Land adjoining the Tobeatic Wilderness between Fourth Lake and the Napier River be CANCELLED immediately until biologists can conduct the necessary research.

QUOTE FROM THE XR FOREST PROTECTORS: “We are camped out on a big new logging road near Rocky Point Lake to stop the Clearcutting of forests where mainland moose live.

They are an endangered species our government is failing to protect –

-SO CITIZENS ARE FORCED TO TAKE ACTION.

Clearcutting is madness during a climate and ecological emergency.

Enough is ENOUGH.“
