On Thursday January 24 the Sudanese community in Nova Scotia is organizing a demonstration supporting peaceful protests in Sudan. As some of you might know, for over a month Sudanese people has taken to the streets in Sudan peacefully protesting and requesting the end of the vicious dictatorial regime that has been in power for 30 years.
This people’s revolt has been faced with aggressive violence; excessive use of tear gas everywhere including emergency room in hospitals. People were shot at with live ammunition. Expanding bullets, which were banned internationally even in state of war, have been used. Thousands of all age, gender, ethnic groups, religion, and professions were detained and tortured. The regime has exhausted all that elements to survive ethically, socially, economically, and politically. To date death count is approaching 50 people between 10 and 50 years of age. Detainees’ numbers have been rising by the hour.
For these reasons we are going out and calling for all humanity to stand up with us.
