The U.S.-based Halifax International Security Forum (HISF), known to the anti-war movement as the Halifax War Conference, returns to Halifax for the 11th year in a row from November 22 to 24. Every year, this event brings warmongers and war criminals, and their handmaidens, to plan further aggression against the peoples of the world. This is unacceptable. Join in actions to get Canada out of NATO, Make Canada a Zone for Peace and reaffirm that Halifax is “No Harbour For War”!

Two events on Nov. 23rd opposing the Washington based Halifax International Security Forum.
At 1pm there will be an anti-war rally at Halifax Peace and Freedom Park (formerly Cornwallis Park) outside the 11th annual Halifax International Security Forum which is a platform for empire building by U.S. imperialism and the NATO bloc. The HISF is organized from and based in Washington, DC, USA, with funding provided by the Canadian Defence Dept.
Warmongers from more than 90 countries will join Canadian Defence Minister Harjit Singh and some 300 others at the conference “to learn from each other, share opinions, generate new ideas, and put them into action.”
It is unacceptable that Halifax, or any Canadian city, be used as a venue to plan further crimes against the peace and the peoples of the world. Bring your banners, bring your music and statements, and most of all bring your friends to oppose this war conference.
At 6:30pm there will be a forum entitled Racism, Imperialism and Ecological Collapse: The Struggle for the Future in Room 302, Dal SUB, 6136 University Ave. Margaret Kimberley of the Black Agenda Report will speak on her experience in organizing the anti-war movement in the USA. Other panelists, including Isaac Saney and El Jones, will speak on issues arising from the security forum, the previous week’s Obama visit and his legacy of drone warfare, the need to dismantle NATO and the need to develop a vibrant anti-war movement in Nova Scotia.
