Today, students across Nova Scotia will walk out of class in support of Wet’suwet’en and Indigenous land and water defenders who are protecting their sovereign and unceded land from harmful oil and gas infrastructure of the Coastal Gas Link Pipeline and militarized force of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police
The current complaint system at the Nova Scotia Human Rights Commission doesn’t seem to be working. Those who have been traumatized by racism, sexism and hate seem to be re-victimized.

PSA: As part of a nation-wide Day of Mourning in Canada and the United States, disability rights advocates in the Halifax area will be holding a vigil on Sunday, March 1, 2020 to honor the lives of disabled people murdered by their families and caretakers.
PSA: On the heels of a similar event in Mahone Bay that drew 300 people, the Twin Bays Coalition is holding a rally in opposition to the provincial government’s plan to impose industrial scale open net pen fish farming in our waters.
On Wednesday February 19th, Erich Burton, an arrestee from the Extinction Rebellion #BridgeOut action in October, arrived at the Halifax Court House flanked by supporters to plead not guilty by reason of necessity. The crown however opted simply to dismiss the case.
PSA: The Xinka Parliament and the Maritimes-Guatemala Breaking the Silence Network (BTS) support and stand in solidarity with Wet’suwet’en land defenders, who are resisting the incursion of the Coastal Gaslink (CGL) pipeline on their unceded territory.
There will be a screening of There’s Something in the Water at the Truro Cineplex in Millbrook. This screening event is being organized by the Confederacy of Mainland Mi’kmaq.
Media release: Students were looking for a bold investment in education and the climate, and saw neither. Tuition has increased more than 20% since this government came to power, making Nova Scotia the least affordable province for pursuing post-secondary education. Instead of making investments in students and investing in a just transition to a green economy, the government continues to give tax cuts for corporations.
