News release: Deputy PM Chrystia Freeland blocked from entering Halifax City Hall in Wet’suwe’ten solidarity action

This afternoon supporters of Wet’suwe’ten land defenders intercepted Deputy Prime Minister Chrystia Freeland outside of Halifax City Hall, where she was slated to meet with Mayor Mike Savage. They called on Freeland to respect Indigenous rights and blocked her from entering City Hall.

On February 11th at 12:30 pm, Haligonians began to block the Fairview Cove Container Terminal in solidarity with Wet’suwe’ten land defenders, who are being forced off their land by the RCMP to make way for the Coastal Gaslink pipeline project.
